Shanna Brubaker KI7YLIQ: When did you get started in radio and why?
I decided to take the Technician class license mostly in an event of an emergency. I really don’t get on the radio that much but do enjoy hearing Jeff on the radio. I got my Technician license in May 2018. Q: Tell us about your radio. My radio is a Tytera MD-380, 2 meter analog/DMR handheld. Q: What are your favorite radio activities? Just after receiving my license Jeff and I volunteered at the Governor’s cup where we were assigned to be Race Control. It was fun to put both feet in and talk on the radio pretty much for the first time. I went to Field Day in June 2018. Lynn K7WGR and Don W7MRI helped me operate the HF radio on 20 m. It was fun and they were very patient with me as I was just learning. I remember it was a cold day, and we sat in Bob K7HLN’s trailer. We had a nice visit with him and many other people that were there that day. I also enjoyed going to the summer picnic (before Covid.) I met many new people, and it was fun visiting with those hams that I knew. April 2021 |
